Ian Bertram, Secretary for the Ministry of Marine Resources (MMR) is to take up a new position with the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) in Noumea in January 2010.
Bertram who has headed MMR for just over five years, told the Herald on Tuesday he has been appointed Advisor in the Coastal Fisheries Area for SPC”s Marine Resources Division. It is a senior management position and his contract is for three years.
Bertram says the coastal fisheries programme applies within the 12 mile limits of the SPC’s 27 member nations.
