Titikaveka College student awardees aim high
Titikaveka College held their end of the year prize giving last week with 3 students commemorated for their outstanding performance during the year.
With the dux award going to Semiti Loganimoce, the first runner up dux went to Mervin Brown and second runner up dux to Jolyn Iro.
The three students felt honored for the recognition of making it this far.
“ I would like to thank my family for the consistent support throughout the year.” says the proud Semiti
“I think the constant remindance from parents of being successful in life is a great motivator or pressure, “expresses Mervin.
The students plan to continue NCEA Level 2 & level 3 at Tereora College next year.
“I am considering a career in weapons designer,” says a motivated Jolyn. And when asked why, she says that it has got that thrill in it of wanting to try something new and exciting.
Mervin is considering a career in being a pilot with Semiti aiming for a more technical career in the much evolved world of Information and communication technology.
Semiti, however, will be continuing his studies as he returns back to his homeland Fiji.
The awards also include the best Teachers Award, Mr. Teariki Jacob. This award was selected by the school councils, which is made up of senior level students.
In her end of the year report, the Principal, Ani Piri expresses her gratitude for the 100% support that the school has received from the parents.
And the highlights during the year included the English Speech Competition, revamping the school’s library, and having host the team Cook Islands during the Pacific Mini Games.
“This would not have been possible without the support of the community, parents, staff and friends,” says Piri.
The school is sad though to see three valuable staff leaving at the end of the year.
