Elite Close Encounter Combat System for Police
Ten members of the Cook Islands Police Force have just completed a rigorous, hardened and rugged training course organized under the supervision of the Founder and Chief Instructor of the “ELITE CLOSE ENCOUNTER COMBAT SYSTEM” (ECE) Shihan Dan Turua.
The participants included the Police Commissioner Maara Tetava, Fitness Instructor Senior Sergeant Kura Taere, Constable Tupou Patia and the 2009 Police Recruits. The ECE Combat System Level one Course Module consisted of different training scenarios in;
* Fitness and Conditioning
* Close Quarter Combat
* Control Tactics
* Fear Management
* Securing Your Perimeter
* Combat Jiu Jitsu, and
* Awareness Drills.
Turua explained that “Control tactics are only part of the Officer’s survival equation. Partial training means partial preparation. To confidently engage in any given scenario, the Boys in Blue must aggressively commit to acquiring real life survival skills.” Welcome to the world of ECE COMBAT SYSTEM,” he added.
The week long course ended with an Awards Presentation for the participants and a special gift by the Commissioner to Turua on behalf of his A Team.
Turua was ably assisted by his Black Belt students John Whitta and Nana Taruia.
