The Cook Islands is fortunate to have up and coming tennis players based in New Zealand who are adding depth to the sport.The latest talent is young Brogan Maoate who is based in Christchurch.
She is 14 years old and started playing tennis when she was 5 years old. Brogan won the 18U girls singles and doubles in the Canterbury Xmas Tournament in Christchurch a few days ago. Her current national ranking is 10 in NZ. Beth Williamson and Brogan currently hold the U14 Hardcourt National doubles title and they will be defending that at the Nationals again in Auckland January 2010. Brogan plays in Womens Senior Interclub for Cashmere who are at the top of the table in the competition. She is an age group representitive for Canterbury for the past 4 years and in total have 3 National doubles titles.
