Acting Secretary appointed for MOIP

Otheniel Tangianau has been appointed as the Acting Secretary of MOIP as of Monday 1 March 2010. Minister of Infrastructure, Hon William Heather noted that right now is a critical time to be taking over the Ministry with all the infrastructure projects that are due to come on line. These include the proposed roading and water supply upgrades for Rarotonga, not to mention the disaster recovery projects in Aitutaki and now also Penrhyn.
Minister Heather said former Secretary Tauakea Raui had already signaled his intention to retire some months ago but he stayed on until the Minister could appoint a suitable person to the position. He added that Vaipo Mataora from MOIP has been promoted to take charge of administration for the Ministry.
