First phase of Aitutaki recovery programme to cost $600,000

Phase one of the Aitutaki disaster recovery programme will cost $600,000 to complete. This is according to the estimates of the figures released by the Minister of Infrastructure, Hon William Heather.
The Minister of Infrastructure said the updated report by the MOIP team of engineers of the actual extent and scope of the disaster in Aitutaki has been completed and will be discussed at Cabinet on Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning.
The times are being kept flexible because Finance Minister, Wilkie Rasmussen is on Penrhyn but is due back on Rarotonga on the Air Raro plane on Wednesday 3 March – but are uncertain whether it will be in the morning or the afternoon.
