Eggelton Welcomed

The Prime Minister has welcomed the appointment of Cassey Eggelton as the sixth minister of his cabinet. The addition of Cassey adds a new dimension to the ‘tight five’, not simply because she’s another milestone in female Ministers, following on from Aunty Mau, but that she’s a fresh voice that has the ability to look forward to a better future, he says.
Eggelton has been assigned the portfolio responsibilities of Environment and Culture.
The Prime Minister says he’s encouraged and interested in a team that wants to build a forward-looking future – not maintaining a stale past. He wants the country to forget old attitudes: think about the future and take up the challenge of building new paths.
Politically, Marurai is disappointed that a select few seem bent on burning the Democratic Party to the ground for their own ends. Eggelton, he says, has shown genuine commitment to political harmony and peace and is deserving of this opportunity to prove herself to her people, and to the country.
