Welcome to Rarotonga
Visiting Rarotonga for the first time are Shirley Allen (left) and Liz Kirk (right) from Auckland New Zealand.
They arrived on Sunday and on Monday morning paid a call to CITV.
Allen works for Maori TV at TVNZ in TV production. She specializes in live shows and did the Waitangi Day broadcast. In all she has worked in television for 15 years.
Allen also runs a charitable trust for at risk Maori and Pacific island children. She has been involved in nation wide projects for youth using art as a vehicle.
Allen, who has been to other Pacific islands, is impressed with Rarotonga which she says has a welcoming atmosphere. The place feels good.
Kirk is a dancer, choreographer and dance teacher. Her forte is contemporary dance. She toured NZ last year with a show called “Flicker.”
Kirk also teaches dance in High Schools for the Royal NZ Ballet Company. She has just finished choreographing a one woman show called “Highlights.”
They return to NZ on Sunday.
