Prime Time For ‘Primefoods Ltd’
The team at Primefoods limited have extended the definition of young entrepreneurs by simply imparting a ‘Cook Islands Touch’ to what they do!
The best things come from within and you don’t need to go overseas to find it”, says Managing Director, Daniel Forsyth of Primefoods. ”Too often, says Forsyth, our Cook Islands people leave our shores for greener pastures on the other side of the world, only to discover that they were greener right here, in the homeland”.
With the intent to put off Cook Islanders from leaving our shores, reduce the cost of living, create employment and grow an energetic Cook Islands workforce is what the Directors of Primefoods limited aim to achieve. This is further energised by the Directors of Primefoods, Daniel Forsyth, Maire Forsyth, Astor Estall, Tia Porter and Winton Porter determination to be driven by a set of values, which are grounded upon family, trust, humility and team work.
Creating opportunities and growing the Primefoods business has taken a year and a half of planning, lots of self belief, long nights building freezers from scratch and of course preparing produce for each opening day. However, underlying all this pre-activity to get the business up and going has been the overwhelming support of an array of people within and outside the retail/wholesale industry.
The inclusive approach to serving the outer islands by the Primefoods’ team is quite inspirational. Most businesses established in the Cook Islands, have a strong focus on Rarotonga. This is not so with Primefoods. They aim to share the quality of their product and produce range with the outer islands. It is an approach that is welcomed and heart warming for many outer islanders. It is an approach that quickly puts to rest the exclusive service that is too often enjoyed by Rarotonga alone.
These young entrepreneurs’ collective strengths are worth watching, supporting and associating oneself with. They are a team, dedicated to doing the hard work that is required. They are determined to make it work, and equally determined to ensure that it is a form of prosperity that they can share with other Cook Islanders.
Bringing quality service and products to our Cook Islands people, while establishing and maintaining connections with appropriate businesses in a ‘Cook Islands business etiquette’ way (that being of added value) is the stance of the team at Primefoods. It is envisaged to assist the team at Primefoods to uphold a sense of social and environmental responsibility for what their business does and will do. It is Primefoods way of living the ideal that Cook Islanders can grow their ideas, take up the opportunity and bring it to reality, right here in their homeland!
