Six-Pack Government bizarre
The sacking of Pastor John Tangi by this six-pack government is bizarre and shameful, said Democratic Party President Makiuti Tongia today. Tongia said, the strongest voice according to a source in cabinet for the sacking of Pastor Tangi, came from Deputy Prime Minister Robert Wigmore of Titikaveka in retaliation.
Pastor Tangi was elected by Parliament as Leader of the House in 2006, and his sacking sends a very powerful message said Tongia, that this government has regressed to petty personal politics.
This government has no intention of calling parliament until November this year.
More sacking is planned in the near future for all Demo MPs with Sir Maoate KBE, said Tongia from government committees they are currently serving now.
Of real concern said Tongia is that investor confidence has dropped to an all time low and local businesses are forced to lay off staff.
The morale of the public sector is also at its lowest as those already made redundant and on the next list to be sacked have left the country.
We are heading for an economic downturn, as this government refuses to call parliament to appropriate new funds and save the country from imminent financial ruin.
This six-pack government should put the welfare of the country first and resurrect our economy before their own selfish desires of self-preservation, Tongia said.
