Low turnout for AGM disappoints
Disappointing attendance, are the words to describe the AGM called for the Takitumu Vaka Cultural Dance Team on Monday last week. Prior to the meeting, dancers and supporters have been asking when are we starting again this year? Yet, when the meeting was called none of them turned up.
To the executives who were present, this is a clear indication, that the members and supporters are too busy with their own agendas, or do not want to take leading roles, and the intense commitment required to prepare the Team for the 2010 Constitution Celebrations. The AGM was called for tabling of the President’s/ Financial Reports and election of office bearers for 2010/11.
Of the present office bearers, four are stepping down. All positions are to be elected. In fact this is really a chance for all Takitumu present and upcoming cultural leaders in cultural performing arts to take up the leading roles.
Due to the requests from present dance members, who profusely apologised for not attending the meeting, the executives is calling another meeting for this Thursday 6th May at the Ngatangiia/Matavera Clubhouse, Muri at 7pm. These same dancers are calling all 2007 dancers/musicians/ supporters to come to the meeting. Show your support and make this years performance a special tribute to two of our outstanding dancers, Teniinii Pittman and T2 Tamarii Pierre.
The invitation is extended to all Takitumu blood wherever you are, those who live in Matavera, Ngatangiia, Titikaveka or anyone who wants to join Takitumu, come join the meeting. E te Aronga Mana mei Taakarua ki Toreaiva, aere mai turn is to kotou anau. Kia tano te korero e, “Takitumu e Vaka Taunga! !”
Tereapii Enua, President, Takitumu Vaka Cultural Dance Team.
