Caught on Camera

Mrs Kere Moody with her good friend Deb Tamaiva was spotted in town while they were out and about.
Now living in Browns Bay on Auckland’s North Shore in New Zealand, this is the second trip Kere has made back home to the Cook Islands since she left with her family in 1966. Kere’s husband Wally Moody worked for the New Zealand government in the Treasury Dept on Rarotonga prior to self government and they previously lived in what is now the Opposition Office in Avarua. When they left Rarotonga the family went to Niue and then onto Samoa where Wally was working finally settling in Pakuranga, New Zealand when Wally retired.
Kere hails from the island of Atiu and comes from the Niotamanu family in the village of Areora. According to Kere she has no desire to return to her home island as there is no one left there anymore from her family and she is quite content to holiday in Rarotonga.
“Everyone in Atiu I know has died, and the memories I have of my last visit to there are not good,” explained Kere. “I am just happy to see where we lived here in Rarotonga and see all my friends.”
Her husband Wally passed away just over a year ago aged 81years and they have a daughter Suzanne whom Kere lives with and a son Martin and several grandchildren.
