Pay rise for Audit Director

The Herald understands that last week Cabinet approved a salary increase for Director of Audit Paul Allsworth. The Herald understands it follows a recommendation from the Higher Salaries Commission made some time ago when Sir Terepai Maoate was Finance Minister. Directors of Audit are appointed by the Queen’s Representative and their salary is approved by Executive Order in Council. It is understood Cabinet approved an increase in excess of $20,000.
