Australia to play part in Samoa Lotto

SAMOA’S first jackpot lottery winner is yet to come forward, but when they do, Australia will play a part in confirming the big win.
For the first time since the Samoa National Lotto was launched last October, the major prize of T620,000 ($250,000) was won in Saturday’s draw.
The prize has yet to be claimed, lottery official Oloipola Terrence Betham told the Samoa Observer today.
When the winner comes forward their T10 ticket will be scanned and sent to Australia and India for security checks, Mr Betham said.
“It will reduce the risk of people presenting fraud tickets and it’s part of the security checks,” he said.
The board will also give the winner tips on how to spend the money wisely.
