Ngatangiia Democratic supporters confirm support for Sir Terepai Maoate
A public meeting was called on Tuesday 17 August 2010 at the residence of Tu Tutai-Purua at 7.30pm by the Ngatangiia Democratic Party Committee.
The purpose of the meeting was to seek the views of the Ngatangiia Democratic Party supporters regarding the issue of the election run-off instigated by Mann Short, Steven Peyroux and Iaveta Short.
There was an excellent response from members who attended the meeting and also those who signed a support form due to their unavailability to attend the meeting confirming their support for Sir Terepai Maoate. The Committee will continue to circulate the support form to all those supporters they unfortunately did not reach before the commencement of the meeting.
Two motions were tabled in the meeting:
Firstly - “Should we support the election run-off planned for Thursday 26 August 2010 as instigated by Mann Short, Steven Peyroux and Iaveta Short?”
The motion was unanimously turned down, and it was confirmed that the Committee and supporters will NOT support the election run-off.
Secondly - “Do we support Sir Terepai Maoate to stand as the Ngatangiia Democratic Party candidate in the upcoming general elections to be held on 17 November 2010?”
The motion was unanimously agreed to.
The Committee and supporters of the Ngatangiia Democratic Party therefore confirmed Sir Terepai Maoate to be their candidate for the upcoming general elections on 17 November 2010.
