Pacific Pavilion records 4 million visitors
International and Chinese visitors to the Pacific Pavilion at the World Shanghai Expo today reached 4 million. Ms Fan Tiantian of Wenzhou City was surprised when informed she was the 4th millionth visitor to the Pavilion as she and her young cousin, Ms Wang Leyi, walked through the Pavilion door. Beaming with excitement and joy Ms Tiantian and her cousin were greeted with a traditional Pacific welcome and were led on stage to receive their prizes.
The Commissioner General for the Pacific Pavilion, His Excellency Peter Vincent, presented the 4th millionth visitor with gifts from all across the Pacific. The Pacific Pavilion’s commemorative Silver Coin was also presented to Ms Wang as a memorabilia from the Pacific as the 4th millionth visitor to the Pavilion.
“We are excited that the numbers of visitors to the Pacific Pavilion are increasing”, His Excellency Peter Vincent said. “The challenge for us now is to turn these visitors into actual travellers to our Pacific destinations” he said. His Excellency thanked the crowd that gathered to witness the ceremony and encouraged the visitors to return with their family members and friends.
The Cook Islands dance troupe then performed for the Commissioner General and the 4th millionth visitor. The crowd was thrilled and ecstatic with the exhilarating dance moves performed by the Cook Island entertainers. The Chinese visitors in the pavilion eventually joined in the entertainment and had fun swaying their hips to the beating of the Cook Island drums.
Fourteen Pacific Island Countries are currently participating under the Pacific Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo 2010. The event is due to end on the 30th of October 2010.
