Boxing: Battle of the Vakas on Tuesday

Boxers from training gyms at Muri, Arorangi, Pue and Avatiu are expected to "weigh in" at 6pm next Monday evening at the CISNOC building in preparation for the "Battle of the Vakas" contest to be staged at the Banana Court on Tuesday evening.
Cook Islands Amateur Boxing Association President Adi Narayan announced on Thursday that the contest which was put back from 8 November at the request of Banana Court management, was now all go for next Tuesday. The ring will be assembled on Monday evening and referee Joe Haupini has confirmed he will have a team of referees ready for fight night. Three Judges are yet to be named.
Assessing boxers on the night for consideration in the team for the Commonwealth games next march, will be a team of selectors comprising Charlie O'Connor the National Coach, Joe Haupini and Jim Little. Three boxers are to be selected.
Next Tuesday promises to produce some great match ups and boxing. Our three fighters with international experience, the classy boxers Keve Tukia, Vengi Hagai and Eddie Daniels are expected to be there.
