Associate Ministers Appointed

The Prime Minister announced today the appointment of three Associate Ministers to assist with the current workload of Ministers.
The Associate Ministers are:
• Hon Kiriau Turepu, MP for Matavera, Associate Minister of Agriculture
• Hon Atatoa Herman, MP for Ngatangiia, Associate Minister of the Environment
• Hon John Henry, MP for Avatiu, Ruatonga, Palmerston, Associate Minister of Finance and Internal Affairs
In announcing these appointments today, the Prime Minister confirmed that His Excellency Sir Frederick Goodwin, Queens Representative had signed the Warrants of Appointment for the Associate Ministers.
The Prime Minister also stated that it was no coincidence that the three Associate Ministers were Rarotonga based Members of Parliament. These Association Minister positions are going to be very much working positions with substantial responsibility being given to them to assist the Minister in discharging the responsibilities of the portfolio. In this regard, it is important that the appointees be resident in Rarotonga.
The Prime Minister further stated that he was very enthusiastic about the qualities and experience that each of the new Associate Ministers bring to the table. The Hon Kiriau Turepu is widely recognised as one of our most experienced and successful growers. He will be playing a crucial role in shaping the future of our Agriculture industry. The Hon Atatoa Herman is a qualified engineer and long time Head of Ministry. His expertise is going to be important as my government moves towards achieving our goal of a clean green environment said the Prime Minister. The Hon John Henry has many years of experience as a senior officer in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and was well placed to assist the Minister of Finance in this regard.
This is a sound investment for our future said the Prime Minister. It is an opportunity to groom new blood and develop our national capacity at the highest decision making level in the public sector.
