Rattle to Chair International Red Cross Conference

Niki Rattle, Secretary of The Red Cross Cook Islands is heading over to the Federation office in Geneva this Thursday to prepare herself for their biggest meeting this November, The International Conference of The Red Cross Red Crescent which is held every 4 years.
The Standing Commission will be hosting this meeting in Geneva and will consist of formatting and discussing issues such as volunteerism, international humanitarian law, and international disaster response law, to be raised in the coming months International Conference.
Rattle will be representing The Red Cross Cook Islands as she has been invited to be the chairperson of the International Conference in November and says, “It’s a big honor for the Cook Islands as we are the first country in the Pacific to take on this role.”
It is estimated that 1000 international attendants will participate in the International Conference in November, however of those few only 12 pacific islands will be represented at the conference, “I’m a bit nervous,” exclaims Rattle, “I certainly will try my best to live up to the expectation, as I plan to build my capacity to run this role in November.” - Maria Tanner
