New playground at Avatea School
On Tuesday morning Avatea School celebrated the opening of their newly constructed playground.
Gates opened to the students and invited guests of Avatea Primary School at 10 am.
of Avatea Primary PTA Chairperson Ina Tipokiroto told the Herald that the playground had been in the planning for over 18 months and that thanks to the help of all those who purchased the School’s Monster Raffle tickets last year and to those who sponsored materials to complete the construction of the play ground it has finally been completed.
The School raised a total of $35,000 from the sale of the tickets alone which covered the full cost of the shipment of the equipment.
“Because the school had raised the money themselves to achieve this, we feel that it would be more cared for and appreciated, it is definitely money well spent,” commented Tipokiroa.
Parents and invited guests were treated to fantastic cultural performance by the students who were more than happy to finish their numbers and get on with trying out their new playground. -Tiare Ponini
