The graduation ceremony is for graduates from the Hospitality and Tourism Training Centre in Ngatangiia and the Trade Training Centre in Arorangi which is under the administration of the DNHRD. For the Hospitality section there were three programmes which students graduated from. There were the Food and Beverage courses with six graduates and the Chef course with 11 graduates.
The Chef course was taught by a provider from Weltec which is the Wellington Tech and this course is a City and Guild Qualification from England. For the Trade Training Centre, there are two programmes which students took part in. The first course was the Automotive Class Level 4 with 2 graduates and the second course is the Certificate of Appliance Service Technician with 5 graduates from the outer islands and 7 from here in Rarotonga.
The Trade Training course is an accredited course from the NCQA which the senior levels at Tereora, Titikaveka, Nukutere and other colleges in the Cook Islands also follow. Both the HTTC and the Trade Training Centre are administered by the DNHRD but they are also under the direction of the Association of the Cook Islands Tertiary Institute which enables the delivery of all programmes.
The second part of the graduation ceremony will be the officially announcement of the awardees for scholarship for this year 2010 and the acknowledgement of those still on scholarships and those who have completed their studies.
