Art show well received
The Manuia Art Exhibition which features the work of top Cook Islands artists, opened in New York on 15 March.
The show is being held at the American Indian Community House on Broadway. Former New Zealand Prime Minister and now UNDP Programme Administrator Helen Clark, opened the show.
The Cook Islands artists featured are Mahiriki Tangaroa, Kay George, Michael Tuffrey, Jerome Sheddon and Michael Tavioni.
The show is an initiative of the Beachcomber Contemporary Art Gallery in association with Air NZ, the American Indian Community House, Cook Islands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NZ High Commission (Rarotonga) and the NZ Consulate General (NY).
Ben Bergman (BCA), Tangaroa and Sheddon spoke at the opening. The Herald received photos and comments from a David Hamilton who attended the event and said it went well.
