QR Reappointed

The Prime Minister is pleased to announce today the reappointment of Sir Frederick Goodwin as Queen’s Representative, in the Cook Islands. The reappointment is effective 10 August 2010 and is Sir Frederick’s third reappointment (now starting his fourth term of three years).
The Prime Minister commended Sir Frederick on this achievement today, saying that the long-serving QR had displayed tremendous commitment to upholding the integrity of the Constitution, over these past several months. Despite pressure from various quarters during a time of uncertainty, Sir Frederick has played an important role and kept intact our highest regard for the Office of the Head of State. The PM congratulates the QR and assures him of Government’s continued commitment and support for the Crown, and the Constitution of the Cook Islands.
