Mai TV helps out CITV

Isaiah Narayan a Supervisor for Presentation from Mai TV in Suva, Fiji, has been assisting CITV to install a new fully automated programme system. The system is similar to that used by Mai TV a free to air commercial TV company employing some 26 staff. Narayan’s job at Mai TV involves monitoring programmes before they go to air to check on video quality, audio levels, content in relation to acceptable community standards, language and clarity. It is a form of self regulation says Narayan who is visiting Rarotonga for the first time. He returns to Fiji on Thursday.

Sports seminar for women
CISNOC are to run a seminar on Women in Sport National Management and Leadership from Monday 30 August to Thursday 2 September.
The main topic of the seminar is project management and will involve easy following and understanding theory and practical sessions.
Keynote speakers will be Maara Kenning former Vice President of CISNOC and Anne Tierney former President Oceania Athletics. Other session speakers include Sir Geoffrey Henry, Rosie Blake, Ina Marsters, Karen Rairea, Robert Graham, John Tierney and Lydia Sijp.
Thursday’s programme will include sessions on women in politics and women in the media. There will also be a field visit to the Telecom Sports Arena and a closing ceremony at the Aquarius Hotel during which certificates will be presented to course participants.

Researcher to meet Tobacco group
Dr Vili Nosa, a Niuean based at Auckland University and who is a researcher into Pacific population health will be in Rarotonga from 28 August until 2 September to meet with the Tobacco Control Working Group. The meeting will take place at the National Council of Women Office in Takuvaine at 5pm on Monday 30 August. The meeting was requested by Dr Nosa.
