Missing girl found
The 14-year old girl who was reported to have been missing since last Friday is now back in the care of her family.
CISNOC management proposed
A proposal is to be drafted and put forward by CISNOC and national sports federations to CIIC calling for a review of the management of the new and upgraded sporting facilities used during the Pacific Mini Games last year. CISNOC has argued that the cost for usage is too high and the management of these facilities should be handed to them as they know what sporting codes require. Buildings such as the new Telecom Sports Arena, the refurbished BCI Stadium, the new tennis facilities and golf course have since been under the belt of CIIC.
Overdue bonuses may be paid
Teachers who received an Excellence Report for their TPM at the end of the 2008 school year are expected to have their bonus paid in recognition of their excellent performance rating. It’s understood along with the payout, approval has been given by the Public Service Commissioner on the restructuring of the ministry which will allow the ministry to provide improved service to teachers and school and to allow the ministry to deliver their priorities and goals in the education master plan.
Submissions wanted on political reform
Written submissions are now being accepted from the general public on political reform that has been presented by both Tata Crocombe and Iaveta Short. The 12 point presentation put to the media two-weeks ago has received both positive and negative feedback from members of the public. The political reform was first put forward by the Prime Minister, Jim Marurai and gained support from the 4 cabinet members. Its vaka consultations will be held along with media campaigns and written submissions, dates are yet to be set on when the vaka consultations and conference will be held. The 12 points proposal on Political reform includes the direct election of the Prime Minister by all voters, reducing the number of members of parliament seats and the prime Minister being limited to only three terms overall.
