Editor of House and Garden Magazine on our shores

Michal Mckay, Editor of
House and Garden Magazine

New Zealand House and Garden Magazine editor Michal Mckay is on our shores for a well deserved break catching up with family and friends.
Michal was able to share news of a new Television programme that is in conjunction with the House and Garden Magazine that airs on TV one in New Zealand.
The new TV show called - The New Zealand House and Garden Show is made up of 16 series one of which will be featuring Mr & Mrs Dearlove’s house in Matavera, Rarotonga in October. Statistics show The House and Garden Magazine has 641,000 readers from around New Zealand alone and the new TV show has very good ratings say Michal.
Michal’s extensive knowledge in Media over the years saw her first start as a cadet working for the NZ Herald while working her way through various Magazines.
She has worked for NZ Women’s Weekly, also the Deputy editor for Good Housekeeping, the editor for Vogue Singapore, associate editor for Vogue Australia, Fashion and Beauty editor for Australian Women’s Weekly and editor of Mode Magazine in Australia.
Her new appointment with Fairfax Magazine as the editor of New Zealand House and Garden has enabled Michal to also contribute in the Cuisine feature section of their magazine. She works along side a small team of highly experienced writers and photographers in New Zealand who are able to present quality work to an immense reading audience.
Michal is part Samoan with European back ground, this mix of culture has given her the ability to understand ethnic races in a diverse society we live in.
Words of wisdom from Michal are she believes as a writer or a contributor to a magazine or a paper you should be able to develop your own style of writing which becomes a formal expression of oneself.
