Aids Foundation memorial and fundraiser
The Pacific Islands Aids Foundation (PIAF) invites the public to participate in their candlelight memorial on Saturday to be held at their office in Tupapa in remembrance of those who are living with the disease and those who have passed away.
The event will begin at 8pm.
As from Saturday PIAF is undertaking a week long effort to raise funds for the PIAF Hardship Grant. There will be stalls at the Punanga Nui Market, Saturday 19 May and Wednesday 23 May also a quiz night at Club Raro on Wednesday 19 May starting at 7pm. Teams of six people pay $20 per member to join and this includes prizes and free snacks. Register by next Monday 21 May.
The Hardship Grant was introduced in 2003 and is available to all Pacific Islanders living with HIV/AIDS. People who are diagnosed HIV positive often face extreme hardship and difficulties. They often lose their jobs, have less family and community support and must spend more money on medicines and treatments. The Hardship Grant eases this burden.
Further information can be obtained from PIAF on ph 23 102 or E-mail: info@pacificaids.org
