Cabinet meet to discuss Ui Ariki, Digicel
Cabinet gathered today in an extraordinary meeting to discuss two issues – current talks with communications company Digicel; and on the issue regarding the so-called ‘proclamation’ of Thursday 12 June 2008.
It is evident that there is a great deal of confusion caused by the move of a small group of Ariki. Among the Ariki themselves, there seems to be a confused state of position. The Prime Minister and the cabinet now want to take steps to determine what the precise position is of the House of Ariki, as the officially-recognised body.
In addition, the confusion is not being helped by certain Ariki and the lack of availability of hard copies of the proclamation.
