WOM Award Dinner for Ake Hosea-Winterflood

The celebrations for the Woman of the Month is usually for the womenfolk or Vainetini of Rarotonga except for a token male or two. Not so for Ake Hosea-Winterflood, when all of her all-male team members from the Mongoose Golden Oldies footy team turned out in force to cheer her on at the award ceremony held on Wednesday night.
As Mongoose team leader, George George explained, Ake is the only female member of their team and her contribution to their success has been great whether it is training the players of all ages or helping with the food and catering at the club and having a go on the field. George quipped that the boys had been so excited by the honour for Ake that they sent an email she had won the Woman of the Year and that Mongoose plan to hold their own celebrations for Ake at the end of the month.
The new President of CISNOC, Sir Geoff Henry was also a big hit on the night with the WOM executives delighted that for the first time ever that a CISNOC President had attended. They took the opportunity to ask Sir Geoff to present several of the sponsored gifts for Ake and was called upon so many times, that by the end of the evening, Sir Geoff lightheartedly quipped he also wanted to be nominated for the award so he could win the gifts heaped upon the WOM.
Another difference is that the WOM is usually presented with a bouquet of flowers to take home but this time round, there were 3 bouquets with her husband, Carey Winterflood having brought his own bouquet to present to his lovely wife, Ake and to tell us how proud he was of her and her achievements which had been recognized by the WOM award.
