$16,000 raised for disability van
CIRC, Cook Islands Disability Council, Creative Centre staff and clients, Parents of Disabled People, wish to thank the private sector, supporters, volunteer runners with the buckets, drummers, who alerted the public to the event, and each and everyone of you in the community for your wonderful heartfelt contribution to the radiothon and walkathon of Friday 18th September to raise funds towards the purchase of a new van for people confined to wheelchairs. Together as a community we have raised $16,272.68 from the 2 events as well as walk in donations and prior donations.
The van will have security slots to lock the wheelchairs and a hydraulic lift to put the chairs in to the van.
We take this opportunity to thank the proprietors of FM Matariki, FM 88, Cook Islands Radio and the team of announcers who unselfishly gave their precious time to support these efforts. Also acknowledge the ongoing support Cook Islands Television, Cook Islands News, Cook Islands Herald.
Thank you also to our friends from the outer islands who supported the fundraise.
Cook Islands Red Cross Governance and Management would like to pay special thanks to Russell Thomas who masterminded this wonderful effort as a volunteer.
We have just over $1000 still owing from the pledges by radio and look forward to receiving them soon and if anyone needs someone to collect their donation please phone the Red Cross Office and we will send someone to collect.
We are open to take donations as we still need more money to buy the new van and so give us a call and we will be very happy to receive your contribution.
More update will be given as funds come in
Meitaki Maata from the bottom of our hearts and all the beneficiaries of the new van.
