New Mini Golf Facility Opens in Arorangi
“A dream finally come true” was how the Directors of Coco Putt described last night’s launching of their new mini golf range facility in Arorangi in front of family and friends. After the blessing of the facility by Bishop Tutai Pere, the Hon Tom Marsters Leader of the Opposition, well known golfing personality and virtual next door neighbour, was given the honour of opening the complex before a crowd of around 150 invited guests.
“I’m absolutely ecstatic that this dream has finally become a reality because it has been on my mind for the last 6 years,” said Tokerau Turia (also known as Tookz), “It is an 18 hole mini golf range that offers everyone including families, corporates and tourists, the opportunity to visit our facility and enjoy a round of mini golf amidst idyllic mountain surroundings and the beautiful background of Arorangi scenery.”
“Ideally, the main purpose of this facility is to provide an environment where families, friends and whoever can come here, relax and have a bit of fun and enjoyment. We will also be providing a café and bar facilities once we get into the swing of things,” said Turia.
The Directors of the company are Tookz and his partner Megan (who also own the Pawpaw Patch Restaurant in Titikaveka) and Johannes Verspeek and his partner Charlene Hoeft who reside in NZ. “We just want to thank everyone that got behind us to support this initiative and to make our dream come true. While we still have some finishing touches to make, we will be open for business as of tomorrow catering for our first group of customers.”
“This joint venture also provides an opportunity for professional people like ourselves to return to the Cook Islands which we intend to do soon,” said an excited Johannes, “because we now have something to come back to. This is our homeland and we want to do something positive and challenging and I’m confident, this facility will do just that. “
“With that comment in mind, this facility may well provide that incentive as the Directors intend to market this facility among selected global travel wholesalers, hotels, sports and tourism related operators. This is a “first” for the Cook Islands but for me, the intention is to provide an environment and atmosphere for families where they can come and be together through entertainment and relaxation,” said Turia.
“This launch is really to say thank you to those who stood behind our dream and now it is up to us to turn this facility into a friendly, bubbly hive of activity. As we progress, we will also look at “added value” activities to add that something extra for those using the facilities. For now, we encourage the curious to come and look at what we provide. To find us, we’re just off the main road in Arorangi with the sign “Western Union” at the turnoff. You’ll find us about 100 metres down that road on the right,” concluded Turia.
