Christmas celebrations for Woman of the Month movement

The dinner celebrations for Mama Noo Sword Browne as Woman of the Month of December 2009, attracted a large turnout of family, friends and long time associates. VIP guests included good friends, Rongomatane Ariki and Makea Karika Ariki who just last week celebrated her 90th birthday and Mama Tokerau Munro, the President of Cook Islands Girl Guides who nominated her for the WOM award. She also received a very special turou as she entered the building from her nephew, Rangi Henry who wanted to make it a very special occasion Mama Noo.
Agnes, Jessie, Madeilene, and Barry Sword were there to cheer their mother on, as were the entire family from Papa Eric Mann Browne’s side of the family including Maryanne Poaru and Lillian Browne Mato and all the nieces and nephews.
Mama Noo has had some memorable occasions in her life such as when her daughters took her to Las Vegas for her 70th birthday in 2006, and the birth of her nine children, 18 grandchildren and 6 great grand children and the WOM award was the icing on the cake.
She is now looking forward to visiting Asia especially Korea where one of her sons, Alex Sword, former editor of CI News is working.
The award night was also a time for celebrating Christmas and the winding up of 2009 with all the sponsors coming out to enjoy a night out and then look forward to a well earned break before it all starts again in 2010.
Here’s wishing Mama Noo and all the other WOM for 2009 and the sponsors and executives on the committee, a very Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year for 2010.
