Wedding couple and guests donate $1600 to Red Cross for Aitutaki Appeal
When wedding couple Mamie and Greg Dunlop had their wedding on the beach on St Patrick’s Day, they suggested to their family and friends that instead of gifts for them, that they ought to donate money toward the cyclone appeal.
After discussing the matter, all the guests agreed that was a wonderful idea and they unanimously agreed that their money be donated towards the Aitutaki Appeal via the Cook Islands Red Cross Society.
There were 70 family and friends who attended the wedding held on the beach right at the Palm Grove resort in Vaimaanga and say they are thrilled with how wonderful it has been to have their wedding and honeymoon in Rarotonga. They first visited three years ago and ‘fell in love’ with the place and then when Greg proposed to Mamie on her birthday and they set the date for Paddy’s Day, he left the details for her to arrange.
Mamie said she contacted Joanne at Palm Grove and she took care of everything and have treated them like royalty all the way through.
The bride and groom love it here with Mamie enthusing that Rarotonga is the jewel of the Cook Islands and is her idea of how heaven will be once her number is up. All the guests feel pretty much the same way and are delighted that their donation to the Aitutaki can be of assistance to those in need.
Their guests came from England, Australia and New Zealand and had a distinct Irish flavour with both the bride and groom being of Irish extraction.
Kia manuia to Mama and Greg Dunlop for all the days of your life together and meitaki maata for the generous donation to Red Cross for Aitutaki.
