Ioane completes CIP trio for Aitutaki

Mona Ioane has been confirmed as the CIP’s candidate for the remaining Aitutaki constituency of Vaipae Tautu. This finalizes all three candidates for Aitutaki and sets the platform for an interesting election as he will be up against longstanding current MP Kete Ioane.
The other 2 CIP candidates confirmed are Teina Bishop, current MP for Arutanga/Reureu/Nikaupara and Toa Ismaela for Amuri/Ureia.
Mona is no newcomer to local politics. He is currently Secretary for the Rarotonga based Aitutaki Association, was a former Police Officer and now works for Crown Law as Legal Counsel. He says he has had his sights set on becoming an MP for some time to maintain his family’s long association with the CIP in Aitutaki.
His nomination sets the scene for how the CIP’s will address development issues for Aitutaki following the recent cyclone devastation. His combined skills will add value to that of seasoned politician Teina Bishop and another new member to the team Toa Ismaela.
