Resident population by marital status.
The 2006 Census revealed that in the Cook Islands for those over the age of 15 years, there were;
Married- 4,732, Never married-3,933, Living in de facto relationship-988, Widowed-568, Divorced-225
and Separated-176.
Entertainment crazy
From the 2006 Census we note the large number of entertainment appliances in use in the Cook Islands.
TV sets-5,194, DVD players-4,191, Radio/cassettes-3,994, Video players-3,006, Computers -1,720
Cameras-1,655, Guitars-1,298, Playstations-1,245, IPods-523, Organ-213, TV Dish-209 and Pianos-164.
Resident population
When the 2006 Census was done, the total population was 19,342. The resident population was 15,324. Of this resident population, 12,930 were Maori, 1,045 were part Maori and 1,349 were of other ethnic origin. For Rarotonga, the population was 13,890. The resident population was 10,226. Of the resident population, 8,146 were Maori, 891 were part Maori and 1,189 were of other ethnic origin.
