Cancer appeal raises over $6,500
Friday morning, traffic was backed up on the main as far back as Kii Kii as members of the Titikaveka community positioned at the round a- bout near the Banana Court conducted their blue bucket appeal to raise funds for young cancer victim 13 year old Aratoa Mana.
The fundraising began at 7am and one and a half hours later, some $6,592 was contributed by motorists and passersby.
Selina Napa told the Times on Friday morning that people were still coming forward wanting to contribute. She said the Titikaveka people were very emotional at the great response and they apologize to motorists for any inconvenience caused by the delay in traffic.
The Titikaveka Community would like to thank Te Uki Ou for their kind donation of $409 to the Aratoa Mana appeal. Aratoa and his siblings were students of Te Uki Ou School. This morning during the blue bucket appeal held from 7am – 8:30am, raised a total of $6592.00 and on Monday during the door knock appeal, a total of $3320.00 was raised.
