T’Angelo and the Virgin Voyage to visit
New Zealand based Cook Islands singer, songwriter and musician T’Angelo Tunupopo confirms to the Cook Islands Times this week that he is bringing his local group the Virgin Voyage to Rarotonga during the Constitution Week. The self-proclaimed “the man who loves himself” have sent out email to a few nightclubs and dance venue on Rarotonga seeking their interest to host T’Angelo and the renowned group the Virgin Voyage.
The purpose of their trip is to raise funds to assist with the Rakahanga Hostel and also they will be special guests at the Rakahanga Day to be celebrated by the Rakahanga community on 6 August this year. The eight member team arrives here on the 2 of August and they leave on the 17th.
Speaking to the Cook Islands Times last night, T’Angelo have confirmed that he now owns The Virgin Voyage as they are no longer under the banner of Heimana Records(formerly the Vaimutu Records) of Auckland owned by Noo Pare. T’Angelo now owns the Virgin Voyage group.
T’Angelo, born as Teniko Tunupopo hailed from the island of Rakahanga and has names and albums to himself and have always been a popular singer and musician amongst our Cook Islands community in Auckland. Their trip would surely add as extra highlight to this year’s Constitution Celebration as we celebrate forty five years of self-government. And according to T’Angelo, any other day during the week that they are available to perform at any venue on Rarotonga but not during the Rakahanga Day of August 6.
Would any venue out there be interested to host them to contact T’Angelo on 649 276 9351 in Auckland.
