Media personality may contest Mitiaro
Charlie Rani will be in Mitiaro this weekend to attend his mother in law mama Tutai Tou’s 80th birthday celebration. The birthday will be held on Saturday with most of her children and families coming from overseas from as far as Australia and New Zealand.
While in Mitiaro Rani will sound out opportunites to put his name forward to stand for the island at the forthcoming general election. At present he is not sure whether he will offer himself to stand as a Cook Islands Party candidate or an Independent however, it has been something that Mr Rani has always considered for the last few weeks following numerous phone calls from members of the island community seeking his nod to represent the island.
