Curtain Raiser auditions
On Wednesday the Times spoke to Ashley Wichman of LEAF (Lend a Hand Foundation) about the upcoming Rock-Fest’s curtain raiser auditions.
“We really want the curtain raiser for the event to be a local artist, so we decided to hold auditions for the spot,” said Ashley, “The auditions will be held at the staircase on the 7th of August and registrations to enter the social singing competition will close on the 5th of August.”
The age to enter the event is from 15 years of age to 34 years and the winner of the auditions will sing the opening number for Vince Harden, J Williams and many more major artists from New Zealand and Australia arriving in December.
“Not only will the winner be able to showcase their talent among these artists, that person will be given free access to the exclusive after party for the event where they will be able to meet the established artists,” said Ashley.
The event is being held to raise funds to build Youth Homes for troubled teens in the Cook Islands, the LEAF Foundation have already started on one of the homes in Arorangi. Ashley say’s ”We have started the first Youth Home in Arorangi, we live there so we know the place, we know what goes on there, it’s like our backyard only bigger.” -Tiare Ponini
