Soccer season kick off next month
The 2011 Rarotonga Football season is scheduled to kick off next month on Thursday 15th September with Titikaveka taking on Matavera on their home ground.
The 2011 football season will feature seven local clubs in a fourteen round competition, played over fourteen weeks during September through to early December 2011.
Soccer clubs around Rarotonga will be vying for the 2011 Lotto Premier Men’s Round Cup championship. Defending champs Tupapa Maraerenga FC will no doubt look to retain their title for another year.
In the senior women’s category, Cook Islands Football Association has secured a new sponsor, Cook Islands Printing Service for the women’s round cup championship. Whilst senior women’s defending champions Tupapa Maraerenga FC will without a doubt hang on to the round cup trophy however there are other potential clubs with the likes of Arorangi FC, Nikao Sokattak FC and Titikaveka FC who may put up a challenge.
Round one of the Round Cup competition will also see Takuvaine take on Tupapa up in the valley. Takuvaine have proved in the 2010 football season that they are a club to watch out for and we may witness that enthusiasm again this year. Avatiu will host Arorangi down at the swamp.
This season’s matches will be played during the mid week and Saturday’s in order to finish the season on December 17th 2011 for the finals of the knock out competition.
There are five divisions confirmed for the 2011 Football season, Premier Men, Senior Women, Under 17 Men, Under 14 Girls and Under 14 Boy’s teams. - CIFA Media
