500 bed give away to attract tourists
One of some 80 strategies Tourism Corporation announced to the industry at a meeting on Thursday, includes a promotion aimed at the low season where 500 beds will be given away.
Tourism Cook Islands is asking the Rarotonga hotel industry to contribute to a campaign to give away 500 beds as prizes to New Zealanders, to help bolster the upcoming low season. This month is when they want to start the promo for the “Unbelievable Raro Resort Giveaway” - 100 accommodation prizes of three free nights over the five months from 1 November 2011 to 31 March 2012. That’s when Kiwi visitors tend to drop off so Tourism wants to provide an incentive to rebuild the numbers.
This strategy is just one of the nearly 80 campaigns that were revealed yesterday in a presentation by Tourism to the local industry. The campaigns range from trade events to roadshows throughout the global markets.
