Arrest follows police drug raid
Police uncovered one of the biggest seizures of Cannabis Plants in recent times when they executed a search warrant at a house in Panama on Wednesday.
A 39 year old man was arrested and charged with a number of charges relating to cultivation of cannabis
Police allegedly detected the cannabis plants growing in plastic containers on the property. Police allegedly found utensils and other materials associated with drugs during the search.
The man was due to appear in court on Thursday
This latest arrest came about as a result of an ongoing operation focusing on drugs and property offences.
Detective Inspector Areumu Ingaua who is heading the special operation comments:
“ It is disappointing to see that people are still not getting the message about drug dealing. This is an ongoing drug operation that will continue with the aim of apprehending others involved in drug dealing and growing” he said.
“This should be a warning to those who may be growing or dealing in drugs that the police are serious about getting drugs out of our community”.
