Polynesian Blue is celebrating its first birthday by offering flights between Sydney and Apia at only A$100 each way.
The standard full fare Sydney-Apia one way is normally A$449.
As a joint venture between Australia’s Virgin Blue Airlines and the Government of Samoa, Polynesian Blue touched down in Apia for the first time almost a year ago.
RARO
Polynesian Blue is operated by Virgin Blue’s international subsidiary Pacific Blue. This is the same airline which flies into Rarotonga from Auckland twice a week with its Boeing 737-800 jets.
Pacific Blue is currently selling Sydney-Rarotonga one way at between A$369 and A$425.
Since launching, Polynesian Blue has provided affordable fares to local leisure seekers and business travellers. Most importantly, it has played an integral role in stimulating tourism to Samoa.
“This is a very significant milestone for Polynesian Blue. The success of the joint venture has validated our strategy of seeking growth opportunities with partners such as the Government of Samoa,” said Brett Godfrey, Virgin Blue Chief Executive.
VIABLE
“For the first time in years, the country has a strong, viable and robust airline that is continuing to position Samoa as a highly desirable South Pacific destination and we are honoured to be playing a role in the future success and growth of Samoa.”
In addition to this birthday celebration, Polynesian Blue will be expanding its Auckland to Apia return route with an additional weekly flight, starting from November 4. This will mean it provides five Auckland-Apia flights weekly.
It competes on this route with Air New Zealand.
Polynesian Blue will also add 20 one-off flights between Sydney and Apia and Auckland and Apia in the lead-up to the busy Christmas period.
