Cook Islands has done it again.
Miss Cook Islands Krystina Te-Rangi Elizabeth Kauvai is the new Miss South Pacific.
She was crowned Friday night, at the end of the Miss South Pacific Pageant, held at the Tuana’imato Aquatic Centre in suburban Apia..
“I’m just so excited,” she said.
“I’m humbled but I am extremely happy to have won it for my people and everyone who supported me.”
Miss Kauvai continued Cook Islands dominance over the Miss South Pacific crown.
Former Miss South Pacific, Dorothea George, was on to hand over the crown to her successor.
“I’m really proud of her,” she said. “She will get the chance to experience everything I’ve gone through.”
The new Miss South Pacific said all the contestants were winners. She promised to promote the South Pacific in any way she can.
Her mother, Mii Kauvai, who travelled from Cook Islands to support her daughter, said: “I’m just overwhelmed and excited.”
Other top placings: Miss Samoa, Poinsettia Taefu, first runner up; Miss American Samoa, Charity Gregory second runner up; Miss Tonga, Sina Uilani Nauahi, third runner up; Miss New Caledonia, Aurelie J. Rollot fourth runner up.
Seven contestants competed for the crown.
The new Miss South Pacific comes from a family of four including her parents and one brother, according to the Miss South Pacific website.
