Staircase still thriving on entertainment
It’s young talent time again at the Staircase Restaurant and Bar, Taputapuatea. Over the next five weeks junior song quest competitions will be held at Staircase in search of a star.
Sisi Short, the owner of the Staircase, is looking for more young talented singers out there who would like to participate.
There is only one category, 13 years and under. Contestants will sing one song in the heats, one in the semifinals, and two for the finals. They will be required to sing one English song and one Maori or it could be two Maori songs.
Prizes:
Prizes to be won include a recording contract by Pacific Soundz, $700 from Staircase Restaurant and Bar, Raro Mart, Vonnia’s Ltd, vouchers and a guitar from Cook Islands Music School’s Frank Sabatano.
The competition will start on 24 February and is every Saturday night.
For diners, there will be a special steak or fish dinner for only $15 or if you are not eating, there is a $5 cover charge to watch the show that begins at 9pm.

Wednesday Steak Special
For $15 you can get a steak served with chips and salad while enjoying the spectacular view of the Avarua Ocean, you can also order from the a la carte menu.
Thursday Island Night
Thursdays are island night with entertainment by the Tekorero Cultural Croup.
Dinner and show cost $35 and the food is a variety of island foods such as rukau, island potatoes salad, chicken, curry, ika Mata, taro and fresh fruit.
Friday Island Night
This been operating for almost a year now with the Te Hiva Nui Dance Team.
The show starts 8.30pm.
Mann Short starts the evening with some very old but popular songs. Then a talented local family sings and plays the blissful sounds of the ukulele. After the Island show, the DJ carries on through until 2am.
