TAU gains landowner approval for wind farm
The wind power initiative in the hills of Kiikii has been given overwhelming support in principle by the landowners at a meeting held on Thursday 3 July.
A topographical survey is to be carried out on the land to ensure stability of the ground and ridges with a tender process to be advertised early next week and by August, TAU will be holding further discussions with the landowners.
The Energy Division of the Ministry of Transport has installed equipment to collect data from the area since 2007 and the results have shown good potential as a wind farm.
Wind power is more expensive than diesel power, but with the cost of fuel rising, at some stage in the future, it is highly likely that wind will be much more cost efficient than fuel and is another example of TAU keeping up with the play in the latest technologies in their industry.
