School holidays bring spate of break ins

Three different Businesses’ in Avarua Township have been broken into over night. CINVAS Art Studio right opposite the Banana Court had their back window smashed last night by vandals who broke in but stole nothing.
Hermes Salon had their front door handle broken by vandals trying to snap the lock to get in but nothing was stolen.
On 2 It video gaming business in Parekura had their back door smashed in but still the night thieves stole nothing. Kyle Matheson the owner from On 2 it comments how he is “just starting out in business and to have this happen so soon is very frustrating and annoying for him”. Matheson also said that “a lot of these problems unfortunately come from young children who constantly hang around on the streets with nothing else to do and a lack of money makes them do petty little crimes like this. Matheson also said it would be nice to see the parents of these children come and offer them more activities so the children are not getting bored and are actually doing more with their holidays than just hanging out on the streets looking for fun.
