Cook Islander heads Harcourts International

Internationally respected management and mental skills coach Gilbert Enoka has been appointed general manager of Harcourts International.
Enoka has worked with the All Blacks, the Silver Ferns Netball team and the New Zealand cricket team and will continue to work with the All Blacks’ management team.
He first joined Harcourts in 2003 as head of the giant real estate company’s training division.
A Cook Islander born in Palmerston North, Enoka is the son of Maro Kainga Enoka and one of six boys in the family.
In an exclusive email interview with the Cook Islands Herald this week, Enoka said his new role would involve driving, facilitating and supporting the successful growth of Harcourts International by working directly with the company’s chief executive officers in different regions.
“Harcourts has 400 offices in New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia and Fiji,” he said.
“My key role is to support the CEOs in each of these countries. As well as this I am a member of the Harcourts board which sets the strategic direction for the company internationally.”
Enoka said he would continue as mental skills coach for the All Blacks through to the 2007 World Cup.
“Effectively my role with the All Blacks will not change. I am fortunate to have the support of Harcourts in continuing this role.”
Though Enoka last visited Rarotonga 23 years ago on his honeymoon, he said he had a great number of relatives on the island.
“I have just completed a land occupation right on behalf of my family, which brought us contact with many relations. My father has one sister still alive – Aunty Ake who lives in Auckland.”
Enoka plans to bring his family back to Rarotonga for a visit in January next year.
“I have two children and they are very keen to visit Raro.”
