Auckland Dance Team Arrives For Maire Maeva Nui

An Auckland dance troupe has arrived to compete in this years Te Maeva Nui dancing competition that will take place at the National Auditorium. The group has come together within three weeks and has been preparing for the competition practicing day and night new action songs. The group has a total of 40 talented dancers, singers and instrumentalists. The ages of the dancers vary from 13 up to 20 years of age and they are of Cook Island descent brought up in Auckland New Zealand. The young Cook Island children are proud to be here participating in this year’s events. Some of the dancers have never been here before and have had a passion to come and just see where their parents came from. Jacob Samson, the group leader of the Auckland culture dance team is very proud and happy with his team, he said they have all worked very hard in such a short time to get here and they plan to give the audience a great show for the Te Maeva Nui.
