Red Cross meeting will
feature HIV, AIDS, STIs
With Health Minister Dr Terepai Maoate being in Mitiaro, Internal Affairs Minister Ngamau Munokoa delivers the keynote address at the Cook Islands Red Cross Society biennial general meeting. This is on 26 March.
The meeting will be held in the Catholic Church hall basement. It will last three days and will include training and the election of officers.
President Nga Jessie said the theme will be HIV, AIDS and STI Awareness and Education. Delegates will be expected to come away with an expanded knowledge and clearer understanding of the increasing risks of these afflictions in the Cook Islands and the Pacific.
Secretary for Health Dr Roro Daniels and HIV Health Educator Edwina Tangaroa will attend. They will conduct a session on statistics, risks to youth, the National Aids Committee and National HIV/AIDS/STIs Strategic Plan.
Secretary-general Nikki Rattle will cover the Red Cross Strategic Plan for 2008-2010.
Charlie Numanga will conduct a session on Disaster Mapping.
